Gamers "will be able to claim playable NFTs that represent in-game assets such as weapons, equipment" It sounds to me that this will function just like the Ubisoft rewards you get for gaining trophies & achievements which you can use to spend on extra items. It's just that Ubisoft is experimenting with delivering the same with a new technology.

People complained about preordering games, people complained about DLC, people complained about season passes, pe...

I'm not going to complain about anyone being able to do this in their game, RPGs are about personalisation. But I think this low-effort article is as newsworthy as saying gamers will be able to choose if their character has long or short hair - which is not newsworthy at all.

My suspicion is that these websites that think they're superior to ordinary gamers will try and outdo each other with these deliberate showpiece articles. I'm not a mod but going forward as...

It's a mistake to think that all consumers want is a cheap price and value and that's the reason Switch Online is selling well. If you think about it the best VALUE console product and service is an Xbox with Game Pass because of the new indie games, third party games and Microsoft's first-party games when they're released, so in theory if price/value was the only important metric Xbox would be outselling Switch & PlayStation combined. For Xbox fans Game Pass is a brillian...

Nintendo Switch Online has 50% more subscribers than the last officially reported Xbox Game Pass figures. That's incredible as it's only been running for four years and it doesn't have the same amount of content and Nintendo sells its new games at full price. This means the online access of Nintendo Switch and the classic game library is enough of a draw for people to subscribe and it means that Nintendo is running Nintendo Switch Online at a profit which is good for them and the ...

It was clearly inspired by the PlayStation 9 commercial but felt a bit flat. That’s what happens when people copy they copy the superficial elements but don’t understand the heart of the original and why it resonated.

Marketshare of Ubisoft game sales

PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 = 37%
PC = 20%
Xbox One & XB Series X/S = 19%
Nintendo Switch = 7%

Ubisoft is one of the biggest publishing companies so its sales numbers take account of huge international markets. These sales figures reveal that the PlayStation install base is approximately double that of the Xbox install base. And is almost the same as the Xbox and PC userbase combined. ...

TLDR: 50% of the 'overrated' games are PS5 exclusives. The others are multi-format.

@That-Gamer if what you say is correct whilst it won’t likely match the depth of storytelling, this could be set to rival the Last of Us II in production quality. However, it is a warning sign when a senior creative leaves before completion. Romuald Capron, head of Arkane Lyon, left AFTER the game was out the gate.

He doesn’t give any examples of Microsoft Studios games which avoided following a trend. He alludes to, reading between the lines, Call of Duty Warzone and Hyperscape. But if Halo Infinite multiplayer is free to play and does have battle royale (nothing wrong with that) why criticise his competitors who did it first?

Phil Spencer knew that if he blocked the PS5 getting the graphical improvements like he did with Hellblade and Psychaunauts 2 it would lead to cancelled memberships from PlayStation customers.

'Fastest selling' without specifics can be misleading. The definition of "fastest-selling" typically refers to sales results in the first week of a product's release. This means that Xbox Series S and X total sales beat Xbox One's total sales in its first week. This figure in itself doesn't mean it has outsold Xbox One at the same point since its life, for Microsoft to NOT say this it likely means it is underperforming in comparison to Xbox One.

The story was written by Ian Walker, the person who caused a mini scandal for Kotaku last week by writing an immature blog post criticising game development. He was being slated at ResetEra until his friend, a moderator, locked the thread claiming it wasn’t relevant! When there was another critical piece that got locked too. Ian Walker then whined on Twitter saying he shouldn’t be criticised by a game developer because it would mean he would get abuse - in other words he wants to criticise ot...

I am still interested in getting the new-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077. But considering the game's troubled launch CD Projekt have to make sure it releases it in a faultless state. From what I've read this will need gameplay and story improvements as well many thousands of hours of playtesting to ensure it's not buggy. My question is can this actually be done before Christmas? And if it can't, hopefully the company knows to not rush it and let development go on into 2022 befor...
